Here is a great recipe for a homemade body scrub I got from Martha Stewart’s Magazine Christmas Issue. No reason to have dry, flaky, knees, elbows or legs if you’re on a budget. Just mix up some of this scrub. I did, and it turned out nice.
2 Cups Epsom salts or Organic Cane Sugar (to make a salt [small grain] OR sugar [large grain scrub])
1 Cup Carrier Oil (for example: Grapeseed Oil, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil or Vitamin E Oil)
8 Drops Essential Oils (Peppermint, Lemon, Rosemary, the list goes on. But make sure they are food grade essential oils and NOT fragrance oils, which can harm your skin)
1 Drop Food Coloring
Package in small canning jars and decorate as desired. To download label designs, go to marthastewart.com/decembercrafts
I used Epsom Salts, Olive Oil, Lemon Essential Oil and Yellow Food Coloring. Next time I will use orange food coloring, as the lemon with the already yellow olive oil didn’t turn out as pretty as I’d hoped. But I think orange will be very nice for a Citrus Body Scrub. This seems to look better if you mix it ahead of time and let it sit for a few days at least before giving. The best thing about this recipe is there is no junk in it.
